As many of you know, I’m passionate about school gardens. We started one last year and it has already had a big impact on the school, the community and me. I tend to shy away from big titles like Garden Committee Chair, but something about planting, growing and sharing food, especially with children, moves me to the point that I’m willing to do pretty much anything.
There is an honest simplicity and earnest joy in a vegetable garden. I’m not sure the pioneers who settled the frontier would agree, but in an age when most children don’t know where tomatoes come from (hint: it’s not the store), a school garden is a welcome oasis of learning and inspiration.
I’m really excited that Mile High Mamas let me guest blog about our school garden. I can’t think of a topic I’d rather share with other mamas. Take a minute to check out my blog at Mile High Mamas: http://www.milehighmamas.com/blog/2015/10/15/school-garden/.
