I snapped this picture when my baby was around two-years-old. I came across it yesterday and couldn’t help thinking it’s funny how kids have established their facial expressions at such a young age. It’s her “Mom–you’re crazy” look. She’s six now, and I see it regularly.
Then I read a blog that her former pre-school teacher (Betsy Henry) wrote–Zen Mama. One thing really jumped out at me: “There were a few times throughout motherhood that I tried to change my kids. These times were met with disastrous results.” I’m going to try hard to guide but not change my kiddos. There’s a difference, and I think it’s worth taking a moment to think about letting our kids be who they were born to be.
